Smart bands or fitness trackers, whatever you call them, are becoming increasingly popular with fitness enthusiasts, young and old alike. Their strong point is a simpler and more discreet design compared to smartwatches, but also a much lower price. Today we will take a look at the Honor Band 4.
A smart band of this type is not an accessory really needed by someone who does sports sporadically, but rather an additional device useful for controlling physical activity and sleep in someone with constant physical activity.
The biggest change you can see at a glance from the Honor Band 3 is a big usability improvement: the color screen. It is an OLED panel of 0.95 inches with a resolution of 240 x 120 pixels. It is very bright and the colors stand out. There is even a dedicated mode for use at night.
This color screen has an advantage over the Xiaomi Mi Band 3 and is readable in any situation, even under direct sunlight.
As for the design, the Honor Band 4 comes with a lightweight plastic bracelet (23 grams), adaptable to any wrist size thanks to the adjustable strap. It is water resistant up to 50 meters deep and can therefore also be used for swimming. Then there is the Bluetooth 4.2 LE chip and the dedicated heart rate sensor, both located at the bottom.
The navigation offered by Band 4 is simple and intuitive, even for those who have never used a smartband before. The circular key is the access key and the rest of the touch screen allows you to switch between screens with a simple slide.
Once you have connected the smartwatch to your phone through the dedicated Huawei Health application, you become familiar with all the functions offered by this device: a step counter, a heart rate monitor, sleep analysis and fitness functions.
The do not disturb mode and the intelligent alarm clock are two functions that are also useful and well managed. It also includes a curious feature that is finding your phone by making it ring.
The Honor Band 4 is compatible with both Android and iOS.
Honor Band 4 is a good update of its predecessor model without excessively increasing its price. Of course, the smart band could be better, with the incorporation of GPS, for example, especially for those who love to run or want to manage WhatsApp characters from the wrist.
