Realme 6

Realme 6 is one of the new mid-range smartphones of the minor brand of Oppo. It convinced me a lot, I’ll explain why in the review.

The product arrives in a yellow cardboard box, very nice in my opinion. Inside we find the smartphone, a matte silicone cover, a pin to open the SIM and micro SD trolley, an instruction manual, a USB to type C cable, a 30 Watt quick charger

Design and Materials

I like the design thanks to the borderless display with a small hole and the plastic back with colors that reflect the light. One thing that instead disappointed me is the poor oleophobicity of the display and back cover.

However, this is a large and difficult to use one-handed smartphone. The dimensions are 162.1 x 74.8 x 8.9-9.6 mm and a weight of 191 grams. While the weight is average and I have not encountered any problems. It is also not a slippery smartphone and this helps during use.

On the front we find a large 6.5 ″ display with rather small bezels. The 16 megapixel front camera is inserted into a small hole located at the top left of the display.

While the ear capsule is located in the upper frame. On the right side we find a large power button which integrates a fingerprint reader. Really very fast and precise, the times it fails are very few.

Then it is also a very natural position. On the left side we find the trolley for two nano SIM cards and a micro SD and volume rocker. While on the lower side we find the 3.5 mm jack a microphone, a USB C 2.0 . While on the back we find four cameras with LED flash.

We find a nice panel 6.5 ″ IPS with resolution FullHD + in 20: 9 format. I really like the forum because it is not very intrusive. The quality is very good and it convinced me in all fields of use.

Starting from the use of social media, up to watching videos on Youtube. The brightness is high, and even under sunlight it remains visible. The ambient light sensor works correctly, the colors are good IPS with correct chromatic fidelity, even if the blacks are not perfect.

The viewing angles are adequate for viewing content with the screen not perfectly tilted. Realme 6 integrates a panel with refresh rate at 90 Herz .

The choice of the Chinese manufacturer is remarkable, considering that it is usually found only on high-end smartphones. The 90 HZ improve the user experience by ensuring superior fluidity.

Not everyone perceives this difference, like myself, but I recognize that it is a pleasant novelty. Unfortunately I found the oleo-phobic treatment lacking, which makes the display easily dirty with fingerprints.

Realme 6 performs well as a telephone. From the ear capsule the volume is nice and clear, I have always heard my interlocutor well. Also on the other side they have always heard me well.

Reception has always proven to be reliable, in all conditions of use. but unfortunately the data connection goes up to 4G, so nothing 4G +. Finally, the speakerphone has good audio, and I have not found any critical issues.

The connection department of Realme 6 is quite complete for the price range in which it is located. just think of the presence of NFC USB type C and FM radio. While the WI-FI dual band preys well. GPS has a fast fix. Bluetooth 5.0 works correctly

The smartphone has the new Realme Ui based on Android 10, with the security patches of April 5, 2020. So Realme confirms that it is not very punctual in the updates.

I still like Realme Ui a lot, thanks to its minimal graphics. We find a neat launcher, with the drawer and the possibility of applying some pre-installed icon packs.

Finally the quick toggles have become captivating. We then find the possibility to duplicate social apps and game mode. There is still some impromptu translation, but there is a step forward.

We find a processor Mediatek Helio G90t but do not be frightened because it is very similar to the Snapdragon 720G of the Realme 6 Pro.

I have tried the 8 GB RAM model, but also the 4 GB model is fine. The memoirs are UFS 2.1 which is no small feat.

The performances convinced me, with good performances in every area of use.

The applications open quickly, and once started they are all very fluid. It also performs quite well during gaming. Vibration is good, average.

The photographic sector consists of four sensors, a main one 64 megapixels f / 1.8, a 8 MPx 119° and two 2 megapixel sensors each, one for portrait mode in black and white and one for macro.

The shots are quick and the autofocus works properly. The camera app is simple and intuitive.

We find the portrait mode and the 64 MPX that uses all megapixels. The shots of days are convincing, with good sharpness and high contrast. While in low light, the smartphone suffers more, the quality drops.

However, I liked the night mode, which captures more light. The ultra wide angle camera does not distort.

While videos with good brightness are good. At 1080p at 30 or 60 fps there is good electronic stabilization. Unfortunately this feature is lost with 4K at 30 frames per second.

Audio is average for this price range. We find a high volume and a clean sound. We don’t find the bass, but it’s still fine. We also find the FM radio and the jack 3, 5 mm

Realme 6 has a 4300 mAh battery. With an average use, mixed WIFI and 4G, you always arrive late in the evening with a 30% residual and up to 6 and a half hours of active screen.

With lighter use it can be done a day and a half. while with very intense use, all 4G for example, you get the same late in the evening. In the package we find a 30 Watt charger.

The variant 4/64 of Realme 6 on the official website costs 229.90 Euro it goes up to 269.90 for the 4/128 and you get to 299.90 Euro for the top variant 8/128. however on Amazon it has already fallen by a few tens of Euros, 212 for the basic 4/64 cut and 289 for the top one.

Also keep in mind the Realme 6 Pro which costs 350 and has a slightly larger display with double hole, Snapdragon 720 processor, a 2x telephoto lens instead of the black and white sensor.

Realme 6 convinced me a lot, it has a nice 90hz display, a good camera, excellent autonomy at a competitive price. If you have a limited budget Realme 6 is fine, maybe on 4/128. The Pro is better but I recommend it mostly when the price difference between them thins. I thank Realme for the sample.
