Sonos One (Gen 2) is an intelligent speaker with great sound quality and Amazon Alexa voice control, making it an excellent device to have at home.
Priced at $199, Sonos One (Gen 2) gives you integrated voice control to play/pause music, connect to music applications such as Pandora and Spotify, and request weather forecasts or Alexa news updates.
The Sonos One (Gen 2) enhances its predecessor in a slightly improved speaker and design with 6.3 inches x 4.7 inches x 4.7 inches, so it can easily fit on a table, desk, shelf or small counter. It comes in two colors (white or black).
Instead of a top panel with contours and mechanical buttons, the Sonos One (Gen 2) has a completely flat top panel containing touch-sensitive control icons.
There’s a play/pause icon in the center and two four-point icons on each side, allowing you to play/pause, alter the volume by tapping and skip tracks with sliding motions. The speaker microphone icon also allows you to mute the microphone, in case you don’t want Alexa to hear your conversations.
Sonos One (Gen 2) supports multi-room music playback via the Sonos application and supports over 50 real-time music services, including Amazon Music, Apple Music, Pandora, and Spotify. It also gives you the option to play rhythms that are stored on your computer, smartphone, or tablet.
A major drawback to keep in mind is that Sonos One (Gen 2) doesn’t have Bluetooth or wired audio connections; however, its music playback options make up for it.
